Although I am proud of the work that has been done, I affirm that there is much more to do! My top priorities for the District directly align with the Strategic Directions, as outlined in the Road Map.
Achievement
Continue to stay laser focused on high quality educational experiences for all students- this includes doing everything possible to ensure a strong start to the school year with NO learning model disruptions!
Invest time and attention in understanding the impact of the pandemic and adjust our practices to ensure that we hold on to improvements and adapt and respond to areas of need.
Support our educational leaders in strengthening our current high quality teaching practices while also looking to implement innovative and future focused skills and strategies.
Each and Every
Refine and strengthen our teaching practices to reduce the unacceptable opportunity and achievement gap
Ensure high-quality first-time instruction that meets the needs of a diverse continuum of learners, from providing enrichment opportunities to ensuring that all students can meet grade level expectations
Create building cultures that help EVERY STUDENT be the best they can be by providing enriching, challenging, and accepting learning experiences.
Personalization
Distance learning gave students and parents a greater understanding of their learning styles and individual capacities. It is imperative that we BUILD ON these insights and support students in continuing to find success in their unique skills and talents.
Although we have turned our focus to in-person learning for 21-22, our future work needs to include a thoughtful consideration and evaluation of alternate educational delivery models.
Continue to seek opportunities to infuse student voice and choice in their learning.
Health & Wellbeing
Build upon the improvements in Wayzata Cafes and continue to refine our meal options and practices surrounding eating times and healthy habits.
Prioritize student mental health by providing access to quality supports in each of our buildings and intentional investments in nurturing student capacity and resiliency.
Partner with our community to provide networks of family support as well as education and advocacy around collective opportunity and responsibility.
